Les Nuits

The salon is a room and a night. Until now only the room existed.

A night is not an event. There is no programme, no host at a lectern, no list of speakers. There is a table, twenty people who do not yet know each other, and a question each of them has already answered in writing.

The address is shared only with those we have called.

One long table, twenty seats, an address in Cologne given twelve days in advance. No programme, no name badges, no speeches. One course at midnight that nobody at the table has eaten before.

  • The night begins at nine and ends when it ends.
  • Twenty seats. Hand-picked, one by one, unaccompanied — anyone you would like to bring is proposed separately.
  • No photographs. Not out of severity, but so that everyone has the same freedom.
  • No dress code. One rule: come as the person you are after eleven.

THREE CONDITIONS

  1. I · The Question

    One page, by hand, by post. The question is below. No curriculum vitae, no title, no photograph, no reason why you deserve a seat. The page is read by Niander and by no one else.

  2. II · The Pledge

    With the page you send one object of your own — something you would miss. It is not payment and it is not kept. It is returned to you at the door, in your hand, before you sit down. If the door opens without you, it stays with the house.

  3. III · The Address

    Twelve days before the night, twenty people receive a street and an hour. Not before. Those who receive nothing are not refused — they are asked again for the next one.

HOW IT BEGINS

  1. 01 Write to door@maisontaut.com with NUIT I in the subject line. Nothing else in the mail — the answer travels by post.
  2. 02 You receive an address for the envelope. The envelope holds the page and the object.
  3. 03 Twelve days before the night, twenty of you receive the street and the hour.

Adults only. One night, one table, no record kept of who sat at it.
